As Americans, we are in mourning and still grappling with the unreality of the worst acts of terrorism committed in the history of the United States.

Ladies and Gentleman,

Before we get underway with today’s program, I ask that you please rise and direct your attention here in the tower to the symbol of our great nation; the Stars and Stripes of the American flag. In light of the tragic events of this past week, it is all the more important that we keep in mind just how precious our rights and our freedoms are and be aware of how fortunate we are to live in a country as great and resilient as the United States of America.

As most all are aware, many events across the nation have been cancelled or postponed. However, we Americans are afforded the right to proceed with this great event here today without fear or prejudice.

Before we honor America with the playing of our National Anthem, would everyone please join in a brief moment of silence in tribute to those so tragically lost on Tuesday in New York, Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.
